Manitowoc Introduces Next-Generation Cranes at CONEXPO

We’re proud to announce that our partner, The Manitowoc Company, showcased two of its newest cranes at CONEXPO-CON/AGG this year—the National Crane NTC80 and the Grove GMK8700. Both models were introduced to help customers achieve greater lifting capacity and extended reach while maintaining strong jobsite productivity.

National Crane Boom Truck: NTC80

National Crane introduced the NTC80 boom truck with a 156 ft five-section main boom. Designed using direct customer feedback, the NTC80 provides increased lifting performance on a commercial, roadable truck chassis while maintaining ease of transport and quick setup on the jobsite.

Key features of the NTC80:

  • Multiple counterweight packages from 12,000 to 24,000 lbs.
  • Four-position outriggers for flexible setup
  • Electric pinning for faster stow and deployment
  • 22,500 lb. hoist drum capacity

The NTC80 was also engineered with serviceability in mind. Multiple ladder access points and onboard ladder storage on both sides of the crane allow technicians to quickly and safely access key components. Together, these features make the NTC80 a highly versatile and efficient solution for a wide range of lifting applications.

Grove All-Terrain Crane: GMK8700

Alongside the National Crane’s latest release, Grove released their 800 US-ton GMK8700 this year, making it the heaviest lifting capacity crane in the Manitowoc portfolio to date. Mounted on an eight-axle carrier, the GMK8700 is designed to address the growing need for high-capacity lifting across infrastructure, industrial, and energy sector projects.

Key features of the GMK8700:

  • Two boom configurations: a 177 ft (54 m) boom and a 263 ft (80 m) boom
  • CCS 2.0 crane control system for streamlined operation and diagnostics
  • Up to 385,000 lbs. (175 t) of counterweight
  • MAXbase™ 2.0 variable outrigger positioning system for optimized setup

The GMK8700 was developed with a strong focus on transport efficiency and versatility. The GMK8700 can travel with the boom overhead or mounted behind the crane in a dolly, along with a MEGATRAK® suspension, a removable outrigger box, and an adaptive electronic braking system – enhancing mobility and simplifying jobsite logistics.
